In his book Ministry, Word, and Sacraments, Martin Chemnitz, poses a series of theological questions he would ask a pastor concerning doctrine and the office of the ministry. Chemnitz wrote this work in the 1560’s at the height of the Eucharistic debates. It was intended to train pastors. The book is in a catechetical, question and answer format. Chemnitz’s answers are concise and refreshingly understandable for laypersons.
