Faith Academy 2019

The books of Habakkuk and Micah in the Old Testament are the subject of Faith Academy 2019 this year. Dr. Paul Elliott, Professor of Theology and lead professor of Hebrew at Concordia University, Irvine leads this academy. Doctor Elliott is writing the soon to be released Concordia Commentary on Habakkuk. Most Lutherans know one verse from Habakkuk very well. In Romans 1:17, Saint Paul quotes this verse from Habakkuk 2:4, "The righteous will live by faith." This is one of the key verses Martin Luther used to explain how we are reconciled to God. We are also familiar with Matthew 2:6, where the chief priests and scribes tell the wise men to look for the Christ child in Bethlehem, quoting from Micah 5:2.
