“Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build Him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.” -Ezra 1:2
Ezra
God fulfills His promises of mercy; God's providence in restoring the temple and its sacrifices of atonement; the hand of God guides history for the sake of His people; the remnant restored. The rebuilding of the temple is ordered by God against very powerful, very bitter foes. What appeared impossible becomes very easy because of God's plan. Obviously, this is the way divine mercy, working wonderfully, turning all things into good for those who believe; judgment is turned into salvation for them, sin into righteousness, etc., enemies into friends and subjects. For God Almighty holds all things in His hand. The whole world, kings and princes, too, must obey Him. We see this working out visibly here in the book of Ezra.
