Desire for eternal life
This series uses the book SACRED MEDITATIONS by Johann Gerhard. It was first published in 1606 and contains fifty-one devotions. It is considered a classic. One devotion, #46, titled “Desire of Eternal Life,” describes the eternal bliss awaiting the saints with these words: “O devout soul, thou shouldest not set thy heart upon this fleeting life, but rather upon that life that shall endure forever and ever. Let they desires ascend to that blessed place where there is perpetual youth without the infirmities of old age; where life shall never more be followed by death; where blissful joy is unalloyed with sorrow, and where there is a kingdom unchangeable and unending.”
