AN UPDATE FROM PASTOR RHODE ON MARCH 21, 2020
Dear Faith Lutheran Church,
My prayer for you today is that God will make you resolute in building your new schedule around His word.
Heaven and earth will pass away, the coronavirus will pass away, our cares and concerns will pass away, indeed we will pass away, but the Word of the Lord endures forever. It is the Word of the Lord – and nothing else – that grounds us in what is eternal. It is the Word of the Lord – and nothing else – that strengthens our faith. The Word of our living Lord Jesus brings forgiveness, life, and salvation to you and your family.
For the vast majority of our members, building a new schedule around God’s word begins with participating in our Divine Services through online streaming. Go to faithcapo.com at 8:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. and scroll down to find the live feed. Gather everyone in your household, even if that’s just you Turn off all other distractions and prepare to receive God’s everlasting Word. It is no less church simply because you’re sitting at your dining room table!
Don’t simply “watch” our Services, participate in them! The Service Folders for each week can be found on faithcapo.com and can be opened with a click. Click here to download March 22 Service Folder. Sing along with the liturgy and hymns. You can also give your tithe online by clicking the “Donate Now” button. There’s even “Coffee on the Patio” when you click the “Chat Now” button!
If you don’t like to tithe online, you can also mail your offering to: Faith Lutheran Church / 34381 Calle Portola / Capistrano Beach, CA 92624 – don’t send cash, of course, and don’t mark your envelope with the word “offering” or anything else that gives away the contents.
Our upcoming online streaming schedule is as follows:
Sunday, March 22, at approximately 9:20 a.m.
Bible Study: Create in Me a Clean Heart: Confessing Sin and Receiving Absolution”
Wednesday, March 25, at 7:00 p.m.
Lenten Vespers and Sermon Series on Amos
Thursday, March 26, at approximately 8:00 a.m.
Large Catechism Study
Thursday, March 26, at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Bible Study on the Book of Judges
Divine Services will be held tomorrow (3/22/20) at Faith. We will follow the CDC guidelines. Please remember: if you are sick or have been in contact with someone who is sick, you must remain at home. If you are in a susceptible state of health, you should remain home.
After tomorrow, our Services will temporarily change. We will have to cap our attendance at nine. We will be adding more Services to the schedule and we will also be scheduling Communion by appointment. Attendance at Services will be by sign-up. We likely will be experimenting with an online reservation system. This is going to be a work in progress, so please be patient with us. More information will be coming soon!
No matter what other changes may occur, our streamed Divine Services will remain at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. You will always be able to participate in these Services at faithcapo.com.
May our Lord’s Word fill you with the light and hope of Christ. These are difficult times, disappointing times, and even depressing times. Christ Jesus is with you. If you would like to talk, don’t hesitate to call or email and I will get in touch with you as soon as I can.
In Christ,
Pastor Jeremy Rhode
